The Indaba was held under the theme: “Progressive Sheltering: Strengthening Shelters in South Africa”, brings together a diverse array of strategic and relevant role players, creating a national platform to address pressing issues impacting the sheltering of GBV victims/survivors in South Africa. Social Development is the lead government department in implementing Pillar 4 of the NSP. In 2019, President Cyril Ramaphosa officially declared GBVF a national pandemic and called for a whole-of-Government and whole-of-society approach to tackle this crisis head-on
No Alcohol day I Social development minister urges youth to refrain from alcohol, unlicensed taverns
The minister of Social development has urged the youth of sweet waters to say no to alcohol and also report unlicensed taverns to the police. The minister made the plea yesterday, as the department marked world No Alcohol day. October has been set aside as Social development month in South Africa , where the department embarks on several outreach programs.
