Amahle Jemane from the Western Cape is here to break all barriers and wants to show the world that being disabled does not mean you are not able. A member of the Western Cape Deaf Netball team 2022 and 2023. An outstanding tennis player at school. A cast member and junior of the Shakespeare Drama Festival for three years. Amahle comes from a deaf family. Both her parents are deaf and sign language is her mother tongue. She said her father played an important role in all her achievements. She wants to be an activist for young people who are deaf especially now that Sign Language is one of the 12 official languages. She receives a disability grant and is one of the 441 871 children receiving social grants who wrote and passed matric. One of the 109 out 129 learners who wrote SASL in Grade 12 and passed. She was one of the 62 of 110 top performers of social grant beneficiaries as recognised by the department of education.
