South African communities face some of the toughest social challenges. These range from indigent households, substance abuse, teenage pregnancies, GBV child abuse and many others. Last month, Social Development Minister Sisisi Tolashe said the department is expediting the process to employ about 55, 000 social workers amid a dire shortage.
