#BRICSza | Arrival of the President of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), H.E. Xi Jinping in South Africa to participate in the XV BRICS Summit from 22-24 August 2023, in Sandton, Johannesburg. President Xi is also on a State Visit, at the invitation of President of the Republic of South Africa, H.E. Mr Cyril Ramaphosa, which will take place on Tuesday, 22 August 2023, ahead of the official opening of the summit. President Xi is received by Dr Naledi Pandor, Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, at OR Tambo International Airport. 2023 marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of South Africa and the People's Republic of China, which came into effect from 1 January 1998. Relations between the two countries continue to strengthen through various bilateral mechanisms and trade, policy and political ties.
