The problem of substance abuse seems very hard to deal with as more and more young people introduce themselves to new concoctions with very devastating effects on families and communities. In light of this, the Department of Social Development and the Central Drug Authority will from tomorrow (Tuesday) host the 3rd National Summit on Substance Abuse and Illicit Trafficking under the theme: “Towards sustainable, coordinated and impactful strategies for national drug and substance use in South Africa”. Siza Magangoe – Chief Director for Social Crime Prevention Programme and Anti-substance Abuse Programme, Itumeleng Selepe – Former Drug Addict and founder of Word On The Street, a substance and drug-free society movement (cocaine and CAT for 11 years) and Shaun Shelly – Researcher and chairperson of the South African Network of People who Use Drugs in discussion withTalking Point in SAfm.
